Florida Primary and general thoughts on 2008 Presidential race

Well, John McCain had a big win last night here in Florida. Being a registered Republican (althoughI socially claim independent as I would vote Democrat if someone emerged that I could really get behind), I pulled the trigger for John McCain. I was undecided up through the weekend. What put me in the McCain camp, quite frankly, was my disgust for The Clinton's. Watching them inject race into the South Carolina was one of the most disgusting political maneuvers I have ever witnessed, and it reminded me of why I can't stand them so much. So, seeing that McCain is the most likely to defeat Hillary, it made my choice easy. Also, I want someone that will stay the course in Iraq, and I have unlimited admiration for McCain's war experience. His five years as a P.O.W. and the fact that he had the opportunity to leave but stayed behind to suffer more for his fellow troops gives me the chills it is so inspiring.

Let me say one more thing about this Presidential election. Barack Obama is the best public speaker I have ever witnessed, period. The guy is electric. Unfortunately, he wants to raise taxes and leave Iraq, so I can't get behind him. I wish there was an Independent (please Michael Bloomberg, get in this race!) or a Republican that had this kind of charisma. My other issue with Obama is that, if you examine his background, he really hasn't done much, or made any really tough decisions. He is very similar to JFK and I understand the analogies. Both would be four year Senator's before becoming President and their oratory skills are similar. The Democrats are SO stupid to nominate Hillary (which I think will happen after Super Tuesday). She is so divisive and I don't think can win a national election. If they were to nominate Obama, he will clean up. Obama is an exciting and new breath of fresh air - I just wish I actually agreed with him on some issues.

I love how you need reminding of why you hate the clintons so much.

Did you see the NY Post cover after Bill Clinton fell asleep during that speech on MLK day, the cover headline was "Bill had a dream" Priceless

The hard part is that Republicans are now polling ahead of Clinton but behind Obama in the general election. So you might actually be pulling for Hillary now.

I know, I like McCain, but it's not like he really inspires me or anything. The Democrats are going to elect Hillary, and then possibly lose the general election. However, I do think they are wising up to this and we may just see Obama pull it out on Tuesday. Will be really fun to watch.

i think Obama may do better today than people think. I certainly hope so.

by the way, i love how we're posting on here as if for mass consumption, when the reality is it's just three chowder heads from Deercliff Road talking to themselves...
