Super Bowl

I am excited to watch the Super Bowl this Sunday. I really hope the Giants win. They've had a great season and seem to get better every game - I think Eli deserves a Super Bowl as well. He's done a great job and has now proven himself as a playoff/Super Bowl caliber quarterback. If the Pats win, it will be cool to see a team go 18-0, i have to say.

Florida Primary and general thoughts on 2008 Presidential race

Well, John McCain had a big win last night here in Florida. Being a registered Republican (althoughI socially claim independent as I would vote Democrat if someone emerged that I could really get behind), I pulled the trigger for John McCain. I was undecided up through the weekend. What put me in the McCain camp, quite frankly, was my disgust for The Clinton's. Watching them inject race into the South Carolina was one of the most disgusting political maneuvers I have ever witnessed, and it reminded me of why I can't stand them so much. So, seeing that McCain is the most likely to defeat Hillary, it made my choice easy. Also, I want someone that will stay the course in Iraq, and I have unlimited admiration for McCain's war experience. His five years as a P.O.W. and the fact that he had the opportunity to leave but stayed behind to suffer more for his fellow troops gives me the chills it is so inspiring.

Let me say one more thing about this Presidential election. Barack Obama is the best public speaker I have ever witnessed, period. The guy is electric. Unfortunately, he wants to raise taxes and leave Iraq, so I can't get behind him. I wish there was an Independent (please Michael Bloomberg, get in this race!) or a Republican that had this kind of charisma. My other issue with Obama is that, if you examine his background, he really hasn't done much, or made any really tough decisions. He is very similar to JFK and I understand the analogies. Both would be four year Senator's before becoming President and their oratory skills are similar. The Democrats are SO stupid to nominate Hillary (which I think will happen after Super Tuesday). She is so divisive and I don't think can win a national election. If they were to nominate Obama, he will clean up. Obama is an exciting and new breath of fresh air - I just wish I actually agreed with him on some issues.

I'm back

After a 6 month hiatus, I am back. Sorry for the lull. Just couldn't get into the rhythm - expect to hear more from me.

Carnoustie

I am really looking forward to this weekend's British Open Golf Championship at Carnoustie. I read a hole-to-hole description of the course in last Sunday's Barron's. Looks really tough. I suggest checking out Sportsline's golf coverage if you have interest - it's pretty good. I'd like to hear from others if there is a better place to get up to date information on the tournament (even a video feed would be cool). Prediction? I'd like to see Adam Scott come through. He's due for a win. However, Tiger is always in the hunt as we well know.

SIRI/XMSR Merger (cont'd)

Well, there seems to be more and more people endorsing the SIRI/XMSR merger. Again, I never understood how they could get it passed, but my bet is on Mel Karmazin. I figured Mel must have known something we didn't. Long 5,000 shares of SIRI, so I hope it pays off.

NewsGroper

I love the whole fake Steve Jobs blog, and this company Newsgroper may have legs. The whole blogging/comedy thing could be interesting. There's some funny stuff on Newsgroper, and I suggest checking it out. Enjoy!

YHOO Quarterly results

Looks like Yahoo! put up some pretty weak profits, as well as a weak forecast. Wall Street hates weak forecasts. The stock will probably take a hit. if it gets oversold, I may think about buying some. They just are getting crushed by Google. But, then again, who isn't? I hope they Jerry Yang can turn it around and make a run at Google - would be great for the industry.
